Privacy

This is a personal diary. It asks nothing of you but reading.

What this site does not collect

There are no comments, no forms, no accounts and no newsletter. The site sets no advertising cookies, and its fonts are served from this site, not from Google.

What the server records

Like every website, the server keeps short-lived technical logs (address, browser, page requested) to run the site and keep it safe. A security plugin (Wordfence) uses them to block attacks. They are not used for anything else.

Google Analytics, only if you accept

A small notice at the bottom of the page asks whether the site may use Google Analytics. If you press Accept, Google Analytics counts which posts are read, roughly from where (country and city) and on what kind of device. I see only these totals, never who you are. Google’s advertising features are switched off.

Until you accept, Google Analytics sets no cookie and receives nothing that identifies you. Your choice is kept in your own browser, not on this site; to change it, clear this site’s data in your browser and the notice appears again.

The email button

The footer’s email address is shown after a quick check by Cloudflare Turnstile, which keeps the address away from spam robots. Cloudflare sees that check; this site stores nothing from it.

Links to other sites

Some posts and the Books page link to other sites, such as Amazon or Wikipedia. Their own privacy rules apply there.
